POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides key administrative functions for station management, support to breeding programs for R&D seed shipments and local HR support. This position supports station purchasing and accounts payable. Determines shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. The position is also a local point of contact and support for HR.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the timely payment of station expenses, as well as the accuracy of the relevant record keeping.
  • Answer phones and route calls.
  • Perform all mail services; retrieving and sending mail, processing courier shipments.
  • Order and maintain inventory for office and station supplies.
  • Assists breeders and their research assistants in R&D seed shipments under the direction of the Regional Seed Resource Manager – includes assembling paperwork and arranging shipment logistics.
  • Maintain the station seed shipping and receiving log and notifies station manager/seed resource manager of any discrepancies.
  • Act as Local HR support to include, new employee onboarding, processing applications, phone screens, interview scheduling, reference checks, labor postings, etc.
  • Partner with HR Business Partner on employee relations and engagement events/activities
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of HR information at all times
  • Other projects as requested by the site Station Manager.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • B.A/B.S degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years' experience in office administration; Agriculture industry experience preferred.
  • Requires strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn additional programs as necessary
  • Languages: English and Spanish are essential.
